About the R&D Center;

The Agricultural R&D Center, located 5 km away from Sivas University of Science and Technology, has an agricultural area of approximately 250 decares, a heated R&D greenhouse of 5 decares and 4 fully controlled climate chambers, providing high yield and quality, resistant to biotic and abiotic stress conditions. Plant breeding studies are carried out in order to develop new varieties that can adapt to local ecological conditions.

Ongoing Activities
 
Thousands of genotypes belonging to different plant groups have been included in breeding studies. The main plants included in the breeding studies are;;

* Cereals: : Barley, Wheat, Oats

* Legumes: : Common bean, Chickpea, Lentil, Broad Bean, Pea

* Industrial crops: : Sugar Beet, Corn, Sunflower, Potato

* Forage crops: : Sorghum, Common Vetch, Plum, Sainfoin, Fodder Pea, Forage Oat, Alfalfa

* Vegetables: : Tomato, Cucumber, Pepper, Squash, Melon, Watermelon, Garlic

* Fruits: : Rootstock production of Strawberry, Rosehip, Plum, Peach species

Educational program
 
The Agricultural R&D Center is also actively used in the education process within the scope of application-oriented curricula in order to train undergraduate and graduate students as qualified agricultural engineers, agricultural engineers and doctor engineers.

Thesis Studies
 
Some of the projects supported by the international and national level such as the European Union, TÜBİTAK, TAGEM, BAP, scientific studies of academic staff, and thesis studies for graduate and doctoral students are carried out in the Agricultural R&D Center.
